During such a critical time, two completely contrasting pieces of news have come to light for Indian IT professionals. The world's leading technology company, Oracle, has decided to fire 12,000 of its employees, creating panic across the industry. But at the same time, the multinational consulting and technology firm Deloitte has announced 50,000 new hires in India, acting as a balm for IT engineers.

◽ The mystery of the speed of a shadow: Scientists have shown through a theoretical experiment that a shadow or darkness can "appear" to travel faster than light. For example, if you shine a very powerful laser light from Earth to the Moon and quickly move your hand in front of the light, the shadow of your hand falling on the Moon might seem to cross from one end of the Moon to the other at a speed greater than the speed of light.

From a scientific perspective, it does not break Einstein's theory. Because in this process, the shadow is not carrying any matter or information. According to the laws of physics, only information or energy cannot travel faster than the speed of light. Since darkness or shadow has no mass and cannot carry any information, there is no theoretical limit to its speed. But recently, DigiLocker has launched a new and important feature for the convenience of customers, through which your electricity bill will now automatically download to your mobile every month.

Usually, due to the loss of paper electricity bills, customers often have to pay late fines or face harassment searching for old bill records. With this new update, the dependence on paper bills will decrease, and all old bills will be permanently secured in a digital format. Since the electricity bill is used as an address proof for various governmental and non-governmental tasks, its availability in DigiLocker will bring immense relief to the public.

First, open the DigiLocker app on your mobile. Then go to the 'Search Documents' option and search for 'Electricity Bill'. Now select the name of your state's electricity supply board or company (e.g., APDCL). After this, enter your Consumer Number or billing account number. Once you complete this process, your electricity bill will be linked to your DigiLocker account, and as soon as a new bill arrives every month, it will automatically come to your app. You can download it in PDF format at any time you want.

◽ AC's 'secret' or hidden button (using the manual button):
Almost all split ACs have a hidden emergency manual button. Usually, this button can be found on the right side or at the bottom by lifting the front flap or cover of the indoor unit (the part that stays inside the house). It looks like a small switch. Pressing this button once starts the AC at a standard temperature (usually 24 degrees Celsius), and pressing it again turns it off.

Many smartphones available in the market today, especially from brands like Xiaomi, Poco, etc., have a sensor called an Infrared Blaster (IR Blaster). If your phone has a small black dot-like sensor right at the top, you can use your phone as an AC remote. For this, simply download the 'Mi Remote' or any other universal remote app from the Google Play Store and select your AC's brand.

◽ Is the remote really broken? Check it like this:
Many times we think that the remote is completely broken, but in reality, there might just be a minor technical glitch. Before buying a new remote, you can test it yourself:
First, remove the two old batteries from the remote and insert completely new batteries in the correct direction (checking plus-minus).
If there is a small 'Reset' button on the back of the remote or near the battery compartment, press and hold it for about 5 seconds using a pin.

If the AC still doesn't turn on, try a 'Camera Test'. Turn on your smartphone's camera. Now hold the very front part of the remote (where there is a small bulb-like thing, called an IR LED) right in front of the phone's camera lens. Now press any button on the remote and look at the phone screen at the same time. If you see a purple or pink light flashing on that small bulb on the screen, understand that your remote is sending signals correctly and the remote is perfectly fine.

◽ Hard Reset process:
Along with this, also ensure that there is no thick curtain, large furniture, or any other obstacle between the remote and the AC sensor, which is blocking the remote's invisible rays from reaching the AC.

If even after all checks the remote is giving off light (i.e., it's fine) but the AC is not receiving any commands, it must be understood that your AC's software has 'hung'. Just as we restart a smartphone when it hangs, the same needs to be done with an AC. In such a condition, a 'Hard Reset' is very effective. For this, you need to completely shut off the AC's connection from the main power supply of the house, i.e., the MCB or breaker, for 10 to 20 minutes. After twenty minutes, turn the MCB back on.
